Neuronics AG has developed and produced robots in the lower cost bracket since the year 2000. The main product, the Bent Arm Robot Katana, is a mobile handling robot for use in assembly and production, laboratory automation and the food industry. As a result, it is therefore a client specific solution for OEM requirements and special projects.

The Bent Arm Robot Katana - the most cost effective and mobile automation solution for assembly and production, laboratory automation and food industry.

Portable lightweight
With a weight of only 3-4 kg Katana can be relocated very quickly and without difficulty.

Easy to programme
The integrated sensors and the use of neural networks provide the robot with intelligence and the ability to learn. As a result Katana can be easily programmed for a variety of duties.

A peoples assistant
For people to work together with Katana, the robot is completely safe. Safety fences or protective guards are not necessary. And in this way costs can be saved.

Katana HD5M

The Katana HD5M is for various automating tasks, that requires 4 -5 degrees of freedom, the ideal solution. The cheaper alternative with low net weight and a load capacity of up to 500 g, can be used for various pick & place, handling and manipulation tasks. Also this type of Katana can be firmly fixed on a linear axis as well used on a mobile platform (in battery operatioin). Further degrees of freedom are offered in the forearm and gripper area.

The teaching of the tasks can be simplified by leading by hand. Katana 4D, the steering software, registers in addition to the room position of the tip of the gripper (x,y,z) the angle of the position of the grabbers to the object.Various grippers with integrated sensors (infra red, measurement of force, conductivity, position encoder, colour sensor) are available for use, further variations can be created when required.

Katana HD6M

The HD6M version offers in comparison to the other Katana robots the most possibilities: with six motors of up to six degrees of freedom are available. The joints of the gripper can be mounted in a vertical as well as a horizontal position. This means that depending on the task, the optimal position can be chosen.

All six joints are fitted with a "Harmonic Drive". This makes possible, free clearance movements and a repetition accuracy of up to 0.1mm. The 6M version is fitted with a stronger motor than the Katana HD5M model. The load capacity with the long arm and slightly higher net weight (approx. 4 kg) is equivalent to 500 grams. This Katana version can also be taught by the human hand. Katana 4D, the steering software, additionally also registers the room position of the tip of the gripper (x, y, z) also the angle of position of the gripper to the object. Various grabbers have integrated sensors (infrared, measurement of force, conductivity, position encoder, colour sensor) are available for use, further variations can be created when required.

Katana 4D

The software "Katana 4D" which has been concieved for industrial applications, makes the robot easy to control. In addition it offers the user, the possibility of having an easy way to create script programmes for teaching. For the programming of key data the robot arm can also be led by hand to the required position. The software is available in both, German and English, and contains a database, direct sensor analysis, as well as an optional server / client architecture and webserver.

Katana KNI

The Katana Native Interface (KNI), mainly used for research, provides a software library written in C++ that implements all the basic operations in order to steer either the Katana 5M or the Katana 6M.

The KNI can be easily used to develop software without caring about the underlying protocols, and lets users to obtain quick results.

Currently, Windows, Linux and Mac OS operating systems are supported.

Updates and improvements are frequently released by the Neuronics software development team.

Grippers

As well as standard grippers and variations of the same, Neuronics also offers in conjunction with Schunk Greifsysteme GmbH, Lauffen (D), various special solutions that are designed in relation to the tasks which they must fulfill.
